It was all about the patella…and friendship in Helsinki, Finland as the 2022 meeting of the International Patellofemoral Study Group (IPSG) met to share and examine state of the art research and opinions regarding surgical and non-surgical treatment of patellofemoral problems. The meeting was organized by IPSG Chairman Dr. Bill Post of Morgantown, WV and hosted in beautiful Helsinki by Dr. Petri Sillanpaa. PF leaders from around the world attended the pandemic-delayed 3 day meeting which featured research presentations, panel discussions and special lectures on difficult topics. The IPSG, which was co-founded in 1995 by PFF President John Fulkerson as a group of friends with substantial academic expertise in PF disorders continues in that same spirit as a group of friends eager to learn and share thoughts and approaches to unsolved problems in the PF realm. Business related decisions were made that include the election of Dan Green MD as the incoming membership chair and the 2024 meeting site in Montana. 20th International Sports Medicine Fellows conference held in Carlsbad, CA on February 7-8, 2020.
The Patellofemoral Foundation was proud to again support the 20th International Sports Medicine Fellows conference held in Carlsbad, CA on February 7-8, 2020. The meeting celebrated the highest number of registrants and support from industry with guidance from Chairs of the event, Bert Mandelbaum, MD and Ralph Gambardella, MD. Saturday’s agenda was focused on the patellofemoral joint and featured presentations from PFF president and vice-president, John Fulkerson, MD and Jack Farr II, MD. The balance of the lectures were presented by IPSG members Christian Latterman, MD, Marc Tompkins, MD, Seth Sherman, MD (Program Co-Chair), Andreas Gomoll, MD, and Sabrina Strickland, MD. Surgical demonstrations followed the lectures and the meeting participants were then able to transition into a “hands-on” workshop hosted by the speakers.

A Tribute and Thank you to the Patellofemoral Foundation Executive Director Eric Dahlinger Eric Dahlinger was one of the four founders of the Patellofemoral Foundation in 2003, along with Ivan Lendl, Peter Jokl, and John Fulkerson. After serving on the board and developing the foundation, he was appointed unanimously by the Board to be Executive Director of the Foundation based on his loyal hard work, experience, commitment and outstanding leadership skills. He has played and continues to play a major critical role in the successes of the Patellofemoral Foundation. He is well loved by many, especially those who work with him on the Board.
