Laurie Hiemstra joined the Patellofemoral Foundation Board of Directors from Banff, Canada in 2020 as a well-recognized expert on patellofemoral surgery. Laurie has published a range of novel research on patellofemoral joint instability, including the Banff Patellofemoral instability Instrument (BPII) which is the first and only disease-specific patient-reported quality of life measure for patients with patellofemoral instability. Laurie hosted the International Patellofemoral Study Group meeting in Banff in 2019. Additional leadership positions currently held by Laurie include chair of the Gender Diversity and Inclusion groups of the Canadian Orthopaedic Association and ISAKOS. She also serves on the Canadian Orthopaedic Association’s Board of Directors and Executive Committee and is Vice President of the Arthroscopy Association of Canada. Laurie was a Patellofemoral Foundation/ISAKOS Traveling Fellow and now serves on the Travelling Fellowship Committee of ISAKOS.
