PFF Traveling Fellows Drs Liz Dennis and Truls Straume-Naesheim departed the IPSG meeting in Big Sky Montana and continued their education in New Haven Connecticut. Among the highlights of their visit:
- The Yale 3D Patellofemoral research team had lunch at the famous Yale Mory’s, hosted by PFF founding board member emeritus Peter Jokl.
- Yale engineer Johannes Sieberer presented 3D Patellofemoral contour maps to Truls and Liz.
- Drs Fulkerson and Gardner 3D-printed a custom TTO guide case with Drs Dennis and Straume-Naeshim
- The day ended with Yale Paleotologist Armita Manafzadeh studying dinosaur bird patellas, specifically the 100 million year old dinosaur bird Hesperornis. Among other claims to fame, the Hesperornis may have been the first known creature with a patella, as large dinosaurs didn’t have this anatomical feature.
After Yale, New York City was next on the itinerary. There, Dr. Daniel Green, Chief of Pediatric Orthopedics at HSS hosted the PFF Traveling Fellows and Dr. Peter Balcarek (and family) during their stay. More updates on their travels to follow.
