The Patellofemoral Foundation Board of Directors presented its 2026 Lifetime Achievement Award to Dr. Andrew Cosgarea of Johns Hopkins during the IPSG meeting in Lyon, France.

Dr. Cosgarea has been a valuable contributor to the PFF mission as a board member, and also serves on the PFF Finance Committee. He is a leader in computational modeling, 3D and 4D imaging of the PF joint, pointing to the future of PF surgical planning, and has published over 30 articles related to the patellofemoral joint.  He is a Professor of Orthopedic Surgery and long-term chief of the Sports Medicine division and supporter of the athletic programs at Johns Hopkins.

Dr. Miho Tanaka worked with Dr. Cosgarea at Johns Hopkins, remarking, “Dr. Cosgarea is the ultimate example of excellence, integrity, and kindness that I have striven to achieve throughout my career!”

Dr. Cosgarea also served on the board of the AOSSM (American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine) and was elected by his peers to join 2 prestigious orthopaedic societies: Herodicus and the IPSG.

It was a pleasure to spend time with Dr. Cosgarea and his wife Shiela at this year’s meeting.
